Many of our members have seen signs of the ‘underground economy’ at construction sites across BC, be it in Vancouver or Surrey but also now increasingly in smaller communities. This article highlights a long-overdue effort by the Canada Revenue Agency to investigate and crack down on construction companies that don’t play by the rules when it comes to paying their fair share of taxes, following regulations, or treating employees fairly.
