Industrial Waterblasters, Field Laborers & Vacuum Truck Operators for upcoming shutdown season.

The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, District Council 38 is seeking experienced Industrial Field Laborers and Industrial Vacuum Truck and High-Pressure Water Blasting Operators for various short- and long-term shutdown projects throughout British Columbia. These positions offer seasonal employment during the Spring and Fall mill maintenance shutdowns. The spring shutdown season will commence mid-May.

Candidates must be willing to:

  • travel to out-of-town locations. Travel allowances and room and board provided.
  • work shifts of up to 12 hours per day. Overtime paid after 8 hours per day and weekends.

Experienced Industrial Field Laborers – Qualifications

  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel, including to remote locations.
  • Ability to follow instructions and perform effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong multitasking skills and adaptability to diverse work environments.
  • Previous experience in challenging conditions (e.g., confined spaces, heights, noisy or extreme weather) is an asset; experience in industrial pulp and paper or oil and gas sectors is also valuable.
  • Swamping experience (e.g., vacuum or hydrovac work) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with high-pressure water blasting equipment is an asset.
  • Experience handling chemicals is an asset.

Experienced Industrial Field Operators – Qualifications

  • Valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license with a clean 5-year commercial driver’s abstract.
  • Proficiency in operating manual transmission vehicles.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Eagerness to acquire new skills.
  • Ability to take direction, work collaboratively, and adapt to new environments.
  • Mechanical aptitude is an asset.

Wages

$26.00 – $39.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications
